it’s a really smart move for CAPCOM to release RE:Revelations on console/pc

i mean, sucks for the people who bought a 3DS exclusively for it, but after the mixed reception of RE6, i think it’s a good idea to make the more critically claimed RE more accessible for people to play. as much as a lot of us really enjoyed 6, it left a bad taste in some people’s mouths… hopefully Revelations can make more people happy & instill some faith for the next installment.

RE4 is technically a superior game to RE6 in every way

BUT! id still rather play RE6

because RE4’s story is super boring and i hate whiny white ho ashley

the walking dead winning game of the year at the VGAs was such a huge deal to me because it was genuinely amazing AND it restored some of my faith in where gaming is headed.

i really hope it inspires CAPCOM in particular.

i adored RE6, but it really was disappointing in a lot of ways. it was somehow too much and not enough at the same time. it was too bloated with action, too hollywood, they just tried way too hard without putting enough faith in their own creativity… or us.

there just wasn’t enough time spent on fleshing out a story and developing their characters… especially jake, who was tragically dubbed one of the biggest dorks of the year from game informer. i think that could have easily been avoided if they had bothered to actually put all the unlockable blurbs of his story you got from emblems into the game itself. its crazy to think how little we got out of those 4hrs of cutscenes…

the walking dead was a dlc game, it was made by a team of 30 people, it was carried almost entirely on it’s story and characters. the gameplay was pretty simplistic and sometimes a little rocky - it still won game of the year! it’s like the total opposite of everything RE6 was.

i’m not saying RE should emulate the walking dead, it’s just i hope CAPCOM realizes the mistakes they made thinking we all want to see exploding airplanes over character development. RE6 could have been so much more!

some quick thoughts on RE6

at first i was pretty indecisive on how i felt about RE6, but now i can say i really love it. it’s a total mess. a total hot mess.

it’s one of the weirdest experiences i’ve ever had with a video game before. it’s all over the place - especially jake’s campaign. at certain points i felt like i was playing a ghetto metal gear, then a ghetto uncharted lmao. by the end though, i totally loved it.

my only REAL gripe with it, is that i wish they had cut out some of the QTEs and exploding bus/car/boat/airplane cutscenes and added in more of the characters actually talking.

If I was going to stop playing the Resident Evil games because of some gameplay imperfections, I probably would have put RE1 down after 5 minutes.

Even if you go back and play RE4 today - Leon controls like a rusty shopping cart. :P

I’m just sayin my entire enjoyment of the series required forgiving some flaws, and that isn’t changing for RE6.

“you’re going to have to change what you expect from a resident evil title for RE6”

welp as someone who has played every RE title on launch day since 2, what do i expect from a resident evil game?

  • zombies/the infected
  • unstoppable giant mutated monsters
  • a virus made by bioterrorists
  • familiar/sexy characters
  • cheesy B movie style plot
  • cartoon-like main villain   ✓
  • one liners
  • shooting
  • puzzles

well gee it’s all there (◕‿◕✿)

i played fatal frame 2: crimson butterfly when i was like 16 and it ruined my life so i will probably never be scared by any other game ever again

it’s cute dead space and resident evil are still trying though (◕‿◕✿)

I remember when Code Veronica first came out and Steve burnside was a universally hated character. He was whiny, useless, and overall just… Bad.

Then a bunch of kids played Darkside Chronicles - where they re-wrote his character a bit - and all of a sudden Steve has a decently big fanbase and people actually think he’s coming back… This wouldn’t bug me at all, but some people STILL think jake is steve (my god). Get over iittt

omg ada’s campaign brings back PUZZLES T_T *weeps tears of joy*
